Pizza
Hailed as an underrated movie, Pizza tells the story of a delivery boy Kunal, whose mundane life takes a horrifying turn when he is off to deliver a pizza to the home of a family with a dark secret. The plot of the film hangs on the suspense of whether or not Kunal overcomes the apparent evil that lurks in the shadows. Akshay's horror-thriller is laced with enough mystery to keep viewers on the hook and it has a delicious twist and some terrifying jump scares. Without giving away any spoilers, it can be said that Akshay's role has shades you could never predict. It is an out-of-the-box thriller and those who braved through its horror quotient have been requesting the makers to create its sequel!
Laal Rang
As Akshay comes across as the proper debonair in real life, it occurred to no one to cast him as a regular small-town guy until Laal Rang came along. The film is a crime thriller that revolves around an impressionable Rajesh (essayed by Oberoi), who colludes with Shankar, a crook involved in trading blood illegally. The movie proves Akshay's versatility as he enacted the role of Rajesh, a small-town guy. The actor impeccably portrayed the gullible dreamer, who is enchanted by Shankar's flashy lifestyle and wants to impress his girlfriend.
Junglee
The word about Akshay's superb bad boy act spread outside of India with Junglee, a family-adventure film. The story circles around a vet, who on his homecoming to his father's elephant reserve, reunites with his childhood friend - Bhola, an elephant, and fights international poachers. In this film, Akshay is seen in the role of a forest officer, who is hand-and-glove with the poachers. Appearing unsuspecting on the surface at the outset, the actor turns out to be the antagonist later on.
Gurgaon
Akshay in Gurgaon is not a caricaturish villain, but a baddie who thinks he deserves better. In the Shanker Raman directorial, the actor plays Nikki Singh - a boxer and the wayward son of real estate tycoon. Oberoi is not afraid to experiment and the neo-noir thriller testifies to the fact. The film captures a power struggle in a real-estate clan headed by a crusty tycoon struggling to live down his violent past. Our very own desirable bad boy is seen spiking the intensity of the film every time he appears on the screen.
