Shekhar Kapoor is named as one of the film directors who marked his presence not only in Bollywood but also internationally. Shekhar Kapoor started his Hindi cinema career in the year 1975 with the film 'Jaan Hazir Ho' and known best for his films such as Masoom (1983), Mr. India (1987), Bandit Queen (1994). Talking about his international film projects, his historical biopics on Queen Elizabeth, 'Elizabeth' (1998), and 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' (2007) gained him several award nominations at 'BAFTA' and 'Golden Globe' but the filmmaker won the 'BAFTA Award for outstanding British film' for his Film 'Elizabeth' (1998).
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India and aided by the Central Government of India. It is situated on the premises of the erstwhile Prabhat Film Company in Pune. Since its beginning in 1960, FTII has become India's premier film and television institute, with its alumni becoming technicians, actors and directors in the film and television industry.
