The city outside, so busy, so full of life, seemed in stark contrast to the deathly silence inside the abandoned home. It seemed like a muffled silence as if the house itself was holding its breath, waiting. Well, Ken Ghosh's crime-thriller 'Abhay' is a perfect gripping tale to watch that unfolds this intriguing quote. With its first season, the series garnered much appreciation for the storyline but with the second season, it turns out eccentric and serves 5 amazing serial killer stories with such powerful villains crossing the limits of brutality. Abhay 2 focuses more on serial killing aspects, antagonists' back story, and their unsettling ways of executing the hideous crimes.
The series is served in front of the audience, in broken pieces as ZEE5 premiered the 'Abhay 2' episodes in three parts on different respective dates. The same method is opted by Amazon Prime for their American series, 'The Boys'. However, this is quite an unconventional way of releasing the web-series but if the storyline can hook you up till the end then, even releasing the parts separately wouldn't harm the crusty layer of excitement.
After the six episodes, ZEE5 unveils the two last remaining episodes of 'Abhay 2'. The seventh episode took its pace from the sixth episode and finishes with the Samar's darkest gamble game. But with the final trap episode, it reveals some of the hidden thrilling stories which were stowed away by the makers to place every broken story at the end.
With an ensemble star cast in the form of Kunal Kemmu, Ram Kapoor, Nidhi Singh, Asha Negi, Chunkey Panday, and Bidita Bag, takes the series to another level. Ram Kapoor who played the villain acted as an impeccable sociopath and watching Raghav Juyal in a never before scene role will surely change your perspective towards his capabilities. Talking about the new entrants Nidhi Singh (our favorite Tanya Nagpal from Permanent Roommates), replacing Sandeepa Dhar from the first season plays Abhay's assistant, and Asha Negi plays a journalist and also Abhay's love interest. Well, the second season star cast cranks it up with their top-notch performances in the series.
All in all, 'Abhay 2' is a must-watch especially to watch Ram Kapoor's intriguing motive behind his psycho mind. The series wasn't less than an unfolding deck of cards and does complete justice to the genre with its amazing writing and direction. Once again, Kunal Kemmu has returned as Abhay Pratap Singh, a sharp investigating officer who understands a criminal's mindset and can go to any extent to solve a case but also struggles with his inner demons. Well, the second season ended with a hint of its third season, and now it seems like to wait and watch for the makers for its third season announcement.
