There's a new green pill that has hit the streets and it has grabbed the attention of one and all. The trailer for MX Player's upcoming crime drama - 'High' has garnered a lot of appreciation for its realistic portrayal of the drugs business and its protagonist Akshay Oberoi stands out for his stark portrayal of being a down and out addict.

The referencing that goes behind portraying such characters - the slightly askew look of a drug addict, the mental state and the emotional wiring are hard to achieve and Akshay Oberoi tells us all about his preparation for the MX Original Series.

`This subject matter isn't easy to translate to the screen - addiction takes over and restructures the brain, making good people behave in a way that's unlike themselves. It's not easy to make audiences connect and empathize with something like that. The director for the series Nikhil and I extensively researched what my character would feel and go through, I read up on articles that speak about the subject, and watched films across decades, just to follow the evolution of the matter in cinema. That really helped me put things into perspective, in order to use my imagination to play the part as authentically as possible!`, said Akshay Oberoi.

High traces the life of Shiv Mathur who is an addict struggling to get a grip on life and eventually finds himself in a rehab facility that is run by Doctor Roy and two other junior doctors who are working on a mysterious compound. The existence and sampling of this pill creates disorder in the illegal drugs market and pharmaceutical industry.

The 9 episodic series is directed by acclaimed ad film maker Nikhil Rao and also stars powerful performers like Ranvir Shorey, Shweta Basu Prasad, Nakul Bhalla, Prakash Belawadi, Mrinmayee Godbole, Kunal Naik, Mantra and Madhur Mittal in key roles.

Will Shiv and the gang achieve their dreams or will be eliminated?
