Q: Having been a super model, how did acting happen to you?
A: Actually, I wanted to be an actor since childhood, so I used to participate in dramas, ramp shows in my school days. But then, once I met a photographer Gautam Rajadaksh, we had a photo shoot and he suggested me to take up modeling. So I started modeling, ads and then the rest is history.
Q: Have you gone through any formal training prior to taking up acting?
A: No, not really, I had done dramas and lots of ads, which helped me in acting. I learnt most of my acting through these only.
Q: What do you enjoy doing more – modeling or acting?
A: Modeling and acting are two sides of the same coin. But I enjoy acting more as it is fascinating, demanding and it needs lots of emotions. Also one can play different characters and roles while acting and so it is a great learning process too.
Q: Which do you think needs more hard work?
A: I feel modeling needs more hard work. It is straining, as we have to keep on rehearsing day and night, whereas acting demands emotions, getting into the character and it is fun. So I would prefer more of acting.
Q: Are you happy with the treatment of the film and your role?
A: I am very happy with the role I am playing, as it is very different. I am playing a radio jockey and I don't think so that a role of a RJ has bee explored much before. And about the film, it has got a very distinct and different look.
Q: Have you done any homework for your role?
A: Yes, I have visited the radio stations and saw the recordings; I have also done a lot of research on this, but more than everything I have observed a lot.
Q: How was your experience working with Anurag Basu and Konkana Sen Sharma?
A: Anurag Basu is very easy going and a very nice person to work with. As for Konkana, she is fabulous, really good to work with. I have learned a lot from her.
Q: The films you have done so far seem to be off beat like 'My Brother Nikhil'. So, do you wish to do commercial movies now?
A: Yes of course. I would love to do more commercial movies and in fact I am in conversation with a few people in this regard.
Q: Would you still continue modeling after acting?
A: Yes I would love to continue modeling, as I am passionate about it. But I would prefer more of commercial ads than ramp walking.
Q: What are your future projects?
A: My upcoming movie is Nisha Chainani's 'Marathon' opposite Mandira Bedi, where I am playing Mandira Bedi's husband, who is having an extra-martial affair. Kunjal Karaniya (SAMPURN)
