Trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared the motion poster of Vijay Sethupathi starrer '800' on social media. In the video, it has been suggested that the film will be set against the backdrop of the civil war that ravaged Sri Lanka for nearly three decades and will showcase the cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan's life span. The film title '800' is inspired by Murali's records of taking the highest number of 800 wickets in world Test cricket. Check out the '800' motion poster here -
Amid the Cricket fever, the poster was released at the time when the Indian Premier League match was going on between the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in UAE. Muralitharan himself is also impressed after seeing the poster and he is very happy that his character is set to be played by Vijay Sethupathi as in the poster, Vijay looks like Muttiah to a large extent.
In his biopic, Muttiah Muralitharan had earlier said, `I am honored that an accomplished actor such as Vijay Sethupathi will be playing me in the film. I have been actively collaborating with the creative team for the past several months, and I will continue to support this project through its duration.`
Even Vijay Sethupathi also reacted to Murali's statement and said, `I am delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the project and guiding me on the cricketing aspects. I am thankful to both Murali and the producers for the faith bestowed on me."
In July month, '800' was announced, and the makers originally had plans to release the film by the end of 2020 but amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the film shooting slated for the future. The film will be shot in Tamil, but the makers are planning to release the film in several languages across the world. The biopic is being directed by MS Sripathy and produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari.
