Netflix has finally released the trailer of the much-awaited horror film 'Kaali Khuhi' starring critically acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi. The film is all set to highlight the female infanticide issue with a horrifying twist. With miniseries 'Ghoul' (2018) based on the Arab folklore monster ghoul, anthologies like 'Ghost Stories' (2020) and mini-series like 'Betal' (2020), Netflix is once again trying its best to bring this horror genre to the digital platform. Well, it is much known that the only 'Ghoul' has left a horrific impact on the audience and the rest released were failed to mark the presence on the auidences' mind.
The streaming giant dropped the film's trailer and it reveals the grimy past of a village in Punjab has come back to haunt its dwellers. In the trailer, Shabana Azmi plays the role of Satya Maasi who welcomed 10 years old Shivangi's (Riva Arora) family. But there are many hidden secrets in the village that have taken a toll on the spirit of the place in the form of the mysterious death of villagers. The story of 'Kaali Khuhi' is being told around superstition and it targets the problem of female feticide in Punjab. Check out the trailer here -
Directed by Terrie Samundra, the film has been produced by Anku Pande and Ramon Chibb, and features Shabana Azmi, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Satyadeep Mishra and Riva Arora in pivotal roles. The film is all set to frighten the audience on Netflix, October 30th as a Halloween treat. Kaali Khuhi will compete with Amazon Prime's crime-thriller series 'Mirzapur 2', which is set to release on October 23rd.
