Blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released on 20 October 1995, fondly completes 25 years. The film that repeated the usual conservative agenda of family, courtship, and marriage, but proposes, Indian family values are portable assets that can be upheld regardless of country of residence. Although the film story aims to capture the struggle between traditional family values and the modern value of individualism. Even DDLJ was ranked among The Times of India's list of the "10 Bollywood movies you must see before you die". It was one of three Hindi films in the film reference book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, the others being Mother India (1957) and Deewaar (1975). It was also placed twelfth on the British Film Institute's list of top Indian films of all time. It is one of the films on Box Office India's list of "Biggest Blockbusters Ever in Hindi Cinema". The film won a National Film Award and 10 Filmfare Awards, setting the record at the time for the most Filmfare trophies.

On the 25th anniversary of DDLJ, Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol changed their names and displayed pictures on Twitter to Raj Malhotra & Simran. `25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special. #DDLJ25 @yrf`, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted while expressing his gratitude for the film. On the other side, Kajol shared strings of BTS videos on Instagram and wrote, "Raj & Simran! 2 names, 1 film, 25 years and the love doesn't stop coming in! On the 25th years of its release, Yash Raj Films also shared a trailer of the film and quoted the description, "A fairytale love story. A kind that stays with you forever. On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the timeless romance 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', relive the magical moments, all over again." Check out DDLJ's trailer here -



Now, on the occasion of the silver jubilee of 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', a bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is set to be unveiled in London. The statue will be put to display at Leicester Square as a part of 'Scenes in the Square' movie trail. DDLJ statue will be one of the many cinematic moments which has been displayed as a bronze statue in that area. Even Twitter India has also launched an emoji to celebrate the 25 years of DDLJ.

The film was Aditya Chopra's directorial debut and was shot in India, London, and Switzerland. DDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema. As of 2019, over 24 years after its first release, it is still being shown at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai until the COVID-19 pandemic hits the theatres in 2020.
