According to multiple reports, Away has officially been given the ax. The cancellation comes just six weeks after the show's debut. Netflix has not provided a specific reason for the cancelation.
However, as we've seen with shows such as I Am Not Okay With This and Glow in recent months, delays and additional production costs brought on by new health and safety protocols have led to planned seasons being scrapped. Though speculative at this point, it's possible that additional costs and delays factored into the decision to scrap Away already. In any event, Hilary Swank's mission to Mars is over.
It has been a particularly rough couple of months for cancellations by Netflix. Recently, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was scrapped after a single season, with Altered Carbon getting the boot after two seasons. Other shows that recently met their end include Teenage Bounty Hunters and The Society.
