Netflix has finally released the trailer of the much awaited 'The White Tiger', a film based on the debut novel of the same name by Indian author Aravind Adiga. In 2008, the book won the 40th Man Booker Prize for its darkly humorous perspective of India's class struggle in a globalized world. A few days back, Priyanka Chopra shared a string of stills from the film on her social media. In the film, she will portray the role of Pinky Madam, a first-generation immigrant in the United States who travels to India with her husband Ashok, played by Rajkummar Rao. But the film revolves around Balram Halwai, a village boy and his life journey.

The trailer follows the story of Balram, and how he finds a job as a driver and starts working for Ashok, the son of one of Laxmangarh's landlords. He takes over the job of the main driver, from a small car to a heavy-luxury described Honda City. He stops sending money back to his family and disrespects his grandmother during a trip back to his village. Balram moves to New Delhi with Ashok and his wife Pinky Madam. Throughout their time in Delhi, Balram is exposed to extensive corruption, especially in the government. In Delhi, the contrast between the poor and the wealthy is made even more evident by their proximity to one another. Check out the White Tiger trailer here -

The White Tiger is directed by Ramin Bahrani, who previously helmed 'Fahrenheit 451' for HBO, '99 Homes', 'At Any Price' and other projects. The film stars Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. The film is all set for its digital release on January 22nd, 2021 on Netflix and will also hit the limited theatres in the month of December 2020.
