Ahead of the release on Diwali weekend, the makers have reportedly received a legal notice from the Shri Rajput Karni Sena. The Hindu religious organization that has earlier protested over Ashutosh Gowariker's 2008 film 'Jodhaa Akbar' and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 released 'Padmaavat'. Now, the organization has asked the makers to change the film title as the word Bomb is considered offensive to the Goddess Laxmi. Previously also, netizens targeted the film for promoting inter-faith marriage. In the film, Akshay is portraying the role of a man possessed by a transgender's spirit name Laxmmi.

According to a report in a leading entertainment portal, "The legal notice was sent by advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, on behalf of Shri Rajput Karni Sena. As per the notice, Laxmmi Bomb, was being considered `derogatory` and `offensive` to Goddess Laxmi by the Hindu community. It further claimed that the makers had `deliberately` used the title Laxmmi Bomb with the sole purpose of lowering the `dignity` of and to show `disrespect` towards the goddess. It added that the name sends out a wrong message to the society at large towards the `ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion`.

At that time, when #boycottlaxmmibomb was trending on Twitter, Akshay Kumar's fans were also standing beside their favorite actor and using #AkshayPrideofIndia in the actor's support. Well, after, watching the trailer, transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi also took to Twitter and praised Akshay Kumar's performance as Laxmmi. Aamir Khan also praised Akshay for possessing the perfect style and spirit of transgender.

On October 9th, 'Laxmmi Bomb' trailer was dropped by the Disney+Hotstar, and the makers got a surprise when the trailer of 'Laxmmi Bomb' became the most viewed movie trailer in India in just 24 hours with 70 million views. Raghava Lawrence's horror-comedy film features Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Apart from them, the film features Sharad Kelkar, Tarun Arora, Ashwini Kalsekar, Mir Sarwar in the pivotal roles. The film is a remake of the Tamil movie 'Muni 2: Kanchana' and Akshay Kumar will portray the role of a transgender in the film. 'Laxmmi Bomb' is all set for its digital release on Disney+Hotstar, November 09, 2020.
