2019 released Hotstar's web-series 'Out of Love' was praised for its acting, directing, and well-formed storyline. The five episode series was a Hindi adaptation of BBC Studios's critically acclaimed series 'Doctor Foster'. Helmed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Aijaz Khan, the series was set in the Indian dropback with lead actors Rasika Dugal and Purab Kohli. Now it has been reported that season 2 is all set to go on the floors with the same star cast but it wouldn't follow the original storyline of Doctor Foster. But rather it will take the story forwards where it ended in the first season and would be a custody battle drama helmed by Asur's director Oni Sen.

According to a report of a leading entertainment portal, "The first season that streamed in November last year revolved around Rasika's character Dr. Meera Kapoor whose seemingly perfect life is shaken up after she finds out about her husband's affair with a much younger woman. It demonstrated the universality of the themes of a complex relationship, insecurities and betrayal. The season ended with Meera starting a new life for herself as a single parent. While the second season carries the story forward from where it ended, the team of the writers has cracked an original script to follow it up. The second season will be a custody battle."

In season 2 of 'Out of Love' Meera (Rasika Dugal) and Akarsh (Purab Kohli) have been happily married until one day Meera finds a hair on Akarsh's scarf. Meera becomes obsessed with finding out who Akarsh's mistress is. She finally confides in a friend who asks her to behave normally around Akarsh but continues digging for evidence. The show traces how Meera discovers Akarsh's lies, his affair with a much younger woman Alia and how she navigates her marriage. She seduces their neighbour who is also their CA and finds out that he has even mortgaged their house and they can soon be bankrupt. Later, at a dinner, she informs Alia's family and after a violent confrontation, Akarsh and Alia leave for Delhi to start a new life leaving Meera and her son behind.

'Out of Love' is a series based on Doctor Foster by Mike Bartlett adapted by label Hotstar Specials. The first season was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Aijaz Khan starring Rasika Dugal and Purab Kohli in lead roles and premiered on Hotstar on 22 November 2019. Now the second season will be helmed by Voot select Asur's director Oni Sen.
