The Supreme Court Friday ruled that Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty can travel abroad on work despite a police alert against her.

A bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan stayed a 'look-out notice' issued by the police superintendent of Mundawar in Rajasthan - which prohibited her from leaving India without court permission.

The police notice came after a Mundawar court issued an arrest warrant against Hollywood actor Richard Gere for his controversial on-stage kisses on Shilpa's cheek during an AIDS awareness show here. The court had ordered an investigation into the incident in response to a private complaint.

The Mundawar police notice had directed all international airport authorities and police officials to apprehend Shilpa and restrain her from going abroad, but Shilpa's counsel Anand Grover said the notice was "illegal and infructuous."
