Jaya Bachchan has so far not had an opportunity to play her real-life son Abhishek's mom in any film barring the Bengali Desh where Abhishek put in a very special appearance as Jaya's NRI son.
Now the two will be seen as a full-fledged mother-son pair in family-friend Goldie Behl's Drona.
Goldie isn't only one of Abhishek's closest childhood buddies, his father producer-director Ramesh Behl was one of Jaya's closest friends. She acted in one of his biggest hits including Jawani Diwani and its not so successful follow-up Dil Diwana.
And when in 1982, Ramesh Behl produced Yeh Vada Raha, Jaya dubbed for both its leading ladies Poonam Dhillon and Tina Munim (they were supposed to be the same character with different faces after plastic surgery).
Goldie hasn't made a film since his debut Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai in 2001 with Abhishek Bachchan.
Says Priyanka, "Drona is a big film in terms of canvas and budget. But it has only three main characters played by Jayaji, Abhishek and me."
Incidentally Jaya and Abhishek are also coming together in Pradeep Sarkar's film Laga Chunri Mein Daag, though not as mother and son.
