Now, the actor is all set to try his luck as a director in his upcoming film "Karkash", which has been produced under his own banner Angath Arts. We met him recently to find out about his new ventures and future plans. Here is the excerpt.
Q: Do you think "Victoria 203" will achieve the same success as the original one did?
A: I am not worried about the outcome of my film. Our pure intention was simply to make the same level of entertainment as the previous "Victoria 203" had. Apart from this, the success or failure of a film is never in the hands of its maker.
Q: Would you be seen acting in the film too?
A: Yeah, I am playing a negative character in the movie. I am doing the role played by Ranjit in the original flick.
Q: What made you turn into a producer?
A: It's been my family business. Besides, since my childhood I have been actively involved in the production business. I am just being professional this time.
Q: And what about turning a director? We have heard that you making your directorial debut through "Karkash"...
A: Yeah, it's true. Actually, the film has been made and the post-production work is in progress now.
Q: We have heard that the film was completed way back in 2005...
A. You are right. But, I intentionally didn't release it. I wanted to release both "Victoria 203" and "Karkash" at the same time.
Q: Tell us something about Karkash...
A: It's a 90-minute film based on rural settings. The movie deals with the serious issue of woman empowerment and where they actually stand in a male-dominated society. It's about a young couple that has been married for six months and the problems they face. Rather than being a commercial cinema, it's more of a realistic one.
Q: So would you be seen acting in "Karkash" too?
A: Yes, I am doing a cameo in the film. I am playing a character that has come from a city to this village.
Q: Had you assisted anyone in direction before taking on this venture?
A: Again, it has been a family business for me. I have been born and bought up with films. Being an actor, I have always been interested what goes on behind the camera. Besides that, I had assisted Sukhwant Dadha in his film "Ek Chaddar Maili Si".
Q: At one point of time you suddenly gave up acting and were out of the limelight...
A: I didn't sign the right kind of films then and at the end of the day, I wasn't satisfied. I just decided to give myself a break and traveled all around the world doing scuba diving.
I got many certificates from different institutions of scuba diving. Basically, it became a passion for me since the time I attempted my first dive in Lakshadeep.
Q: Would you be seen acting again outside your own banner Angath Arts?
A: Yeah, a couple of projects are in the pipeline. But, it's too early to speak anything about it.
Q: Is your production Angath Arts based on your son's name?
A: Yeah, Angath is my son's name. - Alok Hisaria
