But here, the character itself is changing thoroughly, as Neha Mehta, who plays the lead protagonist "Mamta" will be replaced by Narayani Shastri!
Narayani has already tried her hands in the role of a mother before in "Piya Ka Ghar" and it seems that she has no issues like Neha had with aging. "I have no problem in playing a mother, as I have already portrayed a mother in "Piya Ka Ghar".
I am not aging too much, as I am playing a mother to a 15-year-boy and it all depends on the role and not with the age. I have still not had any conversation with Neha about her exit so I have no idea why she is not happy with the role.
Now the story is more about the mother, father and child. The child is separated from his father when he was small and so the story is all about that," says Narayani.
But then what about rumors that she is playing a grandmother? Narayani has to say something on this too. "I don't know, but some newspaper printed some nonsense like this. I am not playing a grandmother, but just a mother."
Earlier too, there were rumors about Narayani's problems with the production house, which is interestingly the same for "Mamta". "I want to clarify this particularly that some two years ago when I was doing "Piya Ka Ghar" some newspapers had wrongly reported that I had problems with Shreyas Production.
This is like a slap on the face of those newspapers, as I am working with the same production house in "Mamta" again after two years and I feel like returning to my family. I am so very comfortable with them that it makes me feel like home," says Narayani furiously.
After taking a much-needed break, Narayani is now back again with "Mamta" in the lead. She is, however, clearly aware and concerned about the hectic schedules.
"As lots of things have changed in the past two years in television, I am happy with doing one daily soap at a time. I have to work 9-9 for just one serial and if I have more than one assignment I would not any time for myself," adds Narayani.
Normally, it's seen that serials don't do that well after leaps. So now let's see how Mamta fares and hope that Narayani would not need a long break again.
