Both films thematically different, Gatham is a dark psychological thriller while Tumbbad was a mythological horror thriller, but both gave the audiences a thrilling experience. Gatham is helmed by Kiran Reddy an independent filmmaker just like the horror thriller Tumbbad which is directed by Anand Gandhi and Rahi Anil Barve. Both films being indie have brought a sense of uniqueness, a perspective audiences had never explored.
Director of Gatham, Kiran Reddy said, "To an extent being an indie filmmaker helps get that fresh perspective because of limited resources and budget constraints. We think out of the box to execute the script, do justice to it by hook or by crook."
Director Kiran Reddy shares his views on 2018 film Tumbbad, he says, "I have watched Tumbadd, the setup is minimalistic but still the way they keep the suspense throughout the movie is really commendable with minimal characters. I take lot of inspiration from movies like these. Specially for Gatham, I had to research and analyze how these guys did pull off such a good movie within limitations, they executed really well."
Gatham released on November 6 and the audiences couldn't help but recall the gripping storyline of Tumbbad from two years back. Both films managed to keep audiences hooked to their seats till the very end with an unexpected climax. The twists and turns in the both the stories are written to perfection by the writers.
Gatham was made and presented to audience with limited resources and a shoe-string budget. Premiering on Amazon Prime Video, the movie has reached to audiences in more than 200 countries and territories.
Starring Bhargava Poludasu, Rakesh Galebhe, Poojitha Kuraparthi and Laxmi Bharadwaj, the film is directed by Kiran Reddy and jointly produced by Offbeat Films and S Originals in association with Mango Mass Media.
