Actor Adivi Sesh will be seen playing Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the upcoming film Major which is directed by Shashi Kiran Tikka. Recalling the entire process of the film, Adivi narrated the emotional story of his experience from signing the film to completing the journey to meet the parents of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
Sharing his first memory of Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Adivi says, "I can only say that he influenced my life from the first moment I knew about him. It was in 2008, I remember when I saw his picture, it was on all the channels. I didn't know what that meant, I kept wondering who this man is. He had a unique madness in his eyes and a slight smile on his lips, a madness on his face. And there was a smile, I could not understand it. He looked as if he was one of my family members, a cousin, and then I came to know that he was Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and sacrificed his life for the country. I could never stop looking at his iconic passport-sized picture." Revealing the story behind the photo, Adivi said, "I later came to know from his parents that he was just trying not to smile badly while taking a passport photo when he gave a big wide smile. And the photographer did not want him to laugh and scolded him that he should not laugh like this in passport photos."
He saw that he could do it so those lips were hiding his smile, but he had a lovely madness in his eyes and I think he captured me and tied most of India to himself. I think his picture is very iconic, that's why he paints lots of his paintings."
Recalling the battle to get the consent of Major's parents, Adivi shared, "When I first called the uncle, Mr. Unnikrishnan, Major Sandeep's father, he did not believe if there were anyone who was studying Sandeep's life for past 10 years and wanted to tell a story inspired by his life. I don't think uncle could not believe that a South Indian boy from Hyderabad who grew up in the US could come and make a movie. Since they didn't believe me, my team and I kept meeting all of us uncles and aunts, I think after the fourth or fifth time, they started trusting me a little bit. And I imagined this moment after the fourth meeting, the uncle looked at me with great sincerity, 'I believe you want to make a film about my son's life at 10%. Went from 0 to 10 and we all Laughing that let's get from 0 to 10 and there was a lot behind that laughter because it was 10% that maybe there was a chance that anyone could tell this great man's story just this wanted to tell, because they believed that this man has lived the kind of life. "
Regarding an emotional experience with Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Adivi Sesh said, "We had already called uncle and aunty bye and were standing near the elevator and aunty from far saw me and she said with a heavy accent. In Hindi, then I went to her and she looked into my eyes and said, "You seem to be my son from a distance." She had tears in her eyes when she said that. I think this was the moment that I knew, that I had her permission to tell a story inspired by her son's life. "
Regarding the film's journey, Adivi Sesh said, "Since then, it has just been a craziness of the many battles that this film has tried to make and has ensured that we are doing justice to this film.
Explaining the importance of the day, Adivi Sesh said, "Major Sandeep was martyred on the 27th and hence we are releasing this video on the 27th with the intention of celebrating his life. The film is about his way of life. Speaks about
