Shakeela Begum, mononymously known as 'Shakeela', was a renowned adult actress of the late '90s. The actress appeared in about 250 films, most of them softcore, which made her a major sex symbol in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Now, Indrajit Lankesh who is famously known for directing South Indian and Bollywood films is coming up with an adult actress biopic titled 'Shakeela'. The film features Richa Chadda, Pankaj Tripathi, Ester Noronha, Rajeev Pillai, and Sheeva Rana in the pivotal roles.

Recently, the filmmakers have unveiled the first look poster of Pankaj Tripathi from the film Shakeela and also announced that the film will release in the cinema halls on Christmas eve. Pankaj Tripathi will play a South superstar role in the film opposite Richa Chadda. The poster featured the actor with the tagline 'The South Indian Superstar', who can be seen donning a superstar avatar holding an award in one hand and a mic in another one. Talking about the project Pankaj Tripathi said, "I am thrilled that our little labour of love 'Shakeela' is all set to release in theatres this Christmas. I am so excited about the film because I have worked with the very talented friend Richa Chadha in this film. I have a beautiful part in the film. I play an actor for the first time in my career. I have always wanted to play an actor on screen and bring out the idiosyncrasies of artists on screen. It's an interesting and colourful character."

Helmed by Indrajit Lankesh, Shakeela features Richa Chadha in the lead role and portrays the titular adult actress who was a 90's Kannada famous star and acted in several adult films in languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The film is produced by Sammy Nanwani and Sahil Nanwani and is all set to hit the theatres this Christmas in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
