Anurag Kashyap's 'Ugly' was a tale of torment, that received a standing ovation at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. A film with a dark ending that shocked the audience with its plotline. Now Anurag Kashyap is coming back with its second installment. The filmmaker has decided to go with its sequel but this time he is not going to direct the film. Anurag will produce and write the script for the film and roped Ajay Bahl for the director seat.

Ajay Bahl is known for directing renowned films like Section 375 and B.A Pass. Ajay is keen to work with Anurag on the sequel script. Ugly film was one of Anurag's works that gained him more popularity and considered his bestest work in showcasing the ground reality after Black Friday. Although, Anurag has directed gems like Gang of Wassapur, Raman Raghav 2.0, Dev D and many more in the row but Ugly is counted as one of his finest directors. Talking about Ugly, Kashyap had the idea for the film since 2006 and started writing the script after talking to one of his friends, who was in the Special Task Force, Lucknow, about kidnapping cases. He chose actors who could connect with the characters in the film.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap and was jointly produced by Phantom Films and DAR Motion Pictures. The film stars Rahul Bhat, Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vineet Kumar Singh, Girish Kulkarni, Surveen Chawla and Anshika Shrivastava in the lead roles. Ugly follows the story of a struggling actor Rahul Varshney (Bhat), whose daughter Kali (Shrivastava) disappears, and the events that follow. The film's first part was filled with several turns & twists and now with the announcement, fans are eagerly waiting for its sequel.
