Amid the pandemic, several filmmakers are taking the OTT route as theatres are opened with 50% occupancy. Still, many production houses have released their films in cinema halls but their performance at the box-office, insists them to rethink their decision. Now, according to the reports, the much-awaited film of 2020 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Rhea Chakraborty and Krystal D'Souza take the OTT route and all set to release on Disney plus Hotstar. It has been also said that the platform has paid a huge amount to the makers.

As per the reports, the makers of the film 'Chehre' negotiated with the OTT platform because the film has legendary Amitabh Bachchan in the film. However, the main reason for the makers' eagerness to sell this film to the streaming giant is Rhea Chakraborty, who plays the lead actress in the film. The actress was in the limelight for the past few months because of her involvement in Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case. So makers want to avoid any controversy related to the case with the film.

'Chehre' shooting was wrapped up before the lockdown and its post production work was going on and the film was also scheduled to release on 24 April. However, the film's release was postponed following the Coronavirus pandemic, as well as the month of June when actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide, The film's lead actress Rhea was then linked to the murder. Rhea was also trolled on social media and after that, the police arrested her in the drug probe. It is speculated that the OTT giant wants to gain popularity through Rhea who is already in the news and many people want to watch the actress on screen.

'Chehre' is a mystery thriller film directed by Rumi Jaffery and produced by Anand Pandit under the banners of Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited. The film features Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. The film also stars Krystle D'Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor and Annu Kapoor in pivotal roles. Bachchan plays the role of a lawyer, while Hashmi stars as a business tycoon.
