During the nationwide lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonu Sood helped thousands of stranded Indian migrant workers to reach their homes by arranging buses, special trains and chartered flights for them. From there, the actor gained immense popularity among the fans. In 2020, the actor was listed on the top '50 Asian Celebrities in The World' and recently he has been called a Personality of the Year. Now, in his hometown Moga, a road has been named after her mother Saroj Sood's name.

Sonu Sood wrote on Instagram while sharing a string of memorial wall pictures engraved with her mother's name. "A visual that I dreamt of all my life. Today a road in my home town Moga has been named after my mom: `Prof.Saroj Sood Road`. The same road by which she traveled all her life. From home to college and then back home. This will always be the most important chapter of my life. I am sure my mom and Dad must be smiling somewhere from the heavens. I wish they were around to see this. I thank Mr.Harjot Kamal, Mr.Sandeep Hans and Mrs.Anita Darshi mam for making this possible. Now I can proudly say my most favourite place in the world is `Prof.Saroj Sood Road. . On the work front, he was last seen in Rohit Shetty's cop universe 'Simmba' as Durva Ranade. On the other side, Sonu Sood will join the star cast of Chandraprakash Dwivedi's historical period-drama film, 'Prithviraj' alongside Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar.
