Lockdown or no lockdown, if you can't go to the most-exotic and happening locations around the world, trust them to come to you in the form of the big-budgeted movies. The Bollywood buff inside us, has over the years, seen a host of films that have taken us on a memorable journey where we're seen our favourite stars holidays and chillax. With wanderlust forever being on our mind, here's five movies that will make you want to book your tickets to your favourite holiday destination or take that much-needed road trip with your loved ones.

1) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The movie was a Spanish travel brochure come alive. What made this bachelor trip starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol all the more adventurous were the picturesque locations of Barcelona, Costa Brava, Sevilla, and Pamplona. Add to that, the boys made it just in time for the La Tomatina festival in Buñol that saw them paint the town red. Be it the soul-satisfying road trips, dancing the Salsa or enjoying the best of meals at local Spanish restaurants, ZNMD showed us why travelling feels absolutely therapeutic. With the trip leaving behind a host of life lesson for each one of us, the film, directed by Zoya Akhtar made us want to travel and rediscover ourselves.

2) Queen

Taking one through the romance capital of Paris and the party city Amsterdam, this film was the Rani when it came to making everyone want to go on a solo trip. This film had two beautiful journeys where one saw Rani be the only one on her honeymoon and the other being this beautiful, yet dependent, young lady introspecting and finding herself going on to become a free bird. Her story made us realize that everything that she experienced on this trip wouldn't have taken place if she'd been with her partner. Leaving us with a smile, Queen showed cinephiles exactly why travelling doesn't just make you explore cities and new places but makes you learn something about yourself as well.

3) Maara

This movie will take us into a dream world filled with scenic landscapes. Starring R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath, Maara is set to release on the 8th of January 2021, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The beautiful lush green land, clear skies and vintage ambience will make you pack your bags and travel the unexplored countryside of India. The movie is shot in Pondicherry and Mattancherry, a small town in Kerala and Nilgiri. Such countryside locations, with clear blue skies and waters and pure air, showcase the vast diversity that spans the length and breadth of our country. After watching Maara, you'll definitely realize that India has so many beautiful and unexplored places that are waiting to be discovered by wanderlust souls like us.

4) Dil Chahta Hai

How can we forget this movie when we are talking about travelling? A film that made everyone want to take the first flight, train or just simply drive down to Goa. It put the small state on the travel map in such a way that Chapora Fort fondly became known as the 'Dil Chahta Hai Fort'. Showing us that things can be unsafe even if you're Saif, the movie gave us the life lesson of not to trust anyone blindly while traveling. And if that wasn't enough, Dil Chahta Hai showed us why it's always a fun time when you're Down South in Australia. This coming of age romantic drama film did set some new trends in the matters of costume, friends, social gathering and travelling with friends especially to places like Goa. This film was all about hum hai naye andaaz kyun ho purana and it truly changed the perception of travelling along with friends. Even after watching the film countlessly, it still manages to create an impact of packing our bags and travelling because Dil Chahta Hai.

5) Dil Dhadakne Do

Starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Farhan Akthar this movie by Zoya Akhtar made for a memorable voyage for all the sea travellers. After all, it's not everyday that you get to see a movie shot on a luxurious cruise along with a few stops at some scenic locales. Adding to the lavish life inside the ship, the film had its own charm outdoors taking us on a trip to France, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey and Italy. Truly depicting the dysfunctional Indian family and how they maintain their status-quo in front of their friends and society, it made us realize that there's no trip like the one made with family when it comes to having a holiday to remember for all reasons good and bad.
