Shahid Kapoor's fantastic performance in Kabir Singh gave him a commercial push that has now driven him into signing some pretty big films.  Kapoor wrapped the shooting of his upcoming sports drama film Jersey, which happens to be a remake of a Telugu hit of the same name. Next, he will kick-off shooting for Raj &Dk's Amazon Prime project that will mark Shahid's debut in the trending digital world.

Well, hold on there, that's not it, Kapoor now reportedly has bagged a big role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's adaptation of Mahabharata. The Rang De Basanti and Bhag Milkha Bhag director, Rakeysh has now approached Shahid to play Karna, the spiritual son of Surya and a loyal friend of Duryodhana in the film.

As per the reports, Shahid's character will be inspired by Karna and it is yet to be revealed whether the film will be made as a mythological epic or will be its modern adaptation with a contemporary twist to it. Reportedly, the film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala and the shooting is expected to start from the end of 2021.

Well, this will be Shahid and Mehra's first-ever collaboration as the duo also tried earlier to come for a project but could not execute it due to some reasons best known to them. Speaking of Jersey, the film is a sports drama film that revolves around the story of a thirty-six-year-old cricketer who resumes his cricket career to play for the Indian cricket team.  

Shahid will be seen working with Mrunal Thakur and his father Pankaj Kapoor in the film. Moreover, Shahid is said to have backed out of Shashank Khaitan's next action film to work with the Delhi 6 director.
