As one of the world's greatest democracies, India votes on anything and everything that is worth its salt. We cast our vote for a multitude of reality shows, we exercise our franchise like few others would.

This time, why not make the vote count towards nominating the Taj Mahal, that eternal celebration of love once described as a teardrop on the cheek of time? Show your pride and love for India...

The Seven Wonders of the World, as we know it, has been around for ages, but popular consensus has been to redraw the list of timeless spectacles. And so the public at large has been asked to make their voices heard by voting for the monument of their choice.

India is omnipresent in the global scheme of things. If Shilpa Shetty is making people sit up and take notice, so too is Bollywood with its commercial gravitas. We are buoyant on the crest of a new wave of optimism, and where it takes us is entirely our choice.

Constructed in 1659 after 22 years of toil, the Taj is more than just a premier attraction on the globetrotter's list or a tourist hotspot. The Taj Mahal is India's most iconic emblem and as such should not be relegated to the chapters of history.

Many try to sum up its beauty, but words fail to capture its immaculate magnificence. It is the epitome of love and all things beautiful, a marvel that all of humanity can only look at and be awed by.

The Taj Mahal is not only a key revenue generator for the Indian Tourism industry; it is also the most iconic vestige of pride we have to offer.

As such, it is the epicenter for all tourists who make their way to our shores and the gateway through which they are introduced to the richness of our traditions. The Taj Mahal has given a lot to India over generations gone by. It's about time we give back in equal measure in the best way possible.

India's population is a billion strong, second to that of only China. If we join hands and rise in unison, we can put India on the world map again. The drive to reinstall the Taj to the hall of fame should be looked back upon as the step in the journey to greatness.

On July the 7th Lisbon, Portugal will be home to the announcement that decrees the Seven New Wonders of the World in addition to the Pyramids of Giza. This celebration of heritage cannot be complete without the Taj's inclusion.

This campaign is to rally around Indians everywhere in a quest to propel the Taj Mahal to where it truly belongs; amongst the pantheon of greats.

The public is asked to "Vote for the Taj - Vote for India", by simply sending in their SMS "TAJ" to 4567 via their mobile phones. One lucky winner will get a 3nights/4days stay in Agra.

This campaign has gained the ardent support of celebrities across India including Bengali bombshell Bipasha Basu, who will be announcing the Seven Wonders of the World in Lisbon.
