They are groomed by the best in the industry, pampered by their big shot mentors and launched by their star parents. Bollywood is churning out star sons and daughters by the dozen.

But the phenomenon is not a new one. The trend can be traced back to the era of Raj Kapoor, Jeevan and Mala Sinha as well.

The only difference is that today's star kids enjoy a lot more exposure, with their parents pumping in fortunes for their future. Such is the build-up before a star kid is announced that the poor thing is almost kept under house arrest, lest the media jumps at him.

Records say that despite all the hype, majority of star kids over the years have either failed miserably or have fared averagely. Only a few have done their parents proud. Here's a list of them, along with the names of their celebrity parent/s, and their impact on film audiences.
