Do actors make better directors? A new breed of actors is all set to prove that as they get set to take over the director's chair. Actors have been donning the cap of the
captain of a ship ever so often. Some have in fact, given us great cinema, while others, well, they should rather go back to acting. But there are a whole new lot of heroes
who are raring to go with their directorial ventures.
First person to do it is Aamir Khan. Often accused of shadow directing his films, he asked Amol Gupte to step aside and decided to make his directorial debut with 'Taarein
Zameen Par'. Aamir Khan told in a television interview, "I am not the kind of man who can produce or direct a film a year, but 'Taarein Zameen Par' is such a script that I
wanted to make this film myself."
Having already taken over the producer's tag, Ajay Devgan is also all set to direct his home production with wife Kajol called 'You Me aur Hum'. Joining the list is south Indian
star Madhavan who is all set to direct a Hindi-Tamil bilingual flick by 2008, just like his debut flick 'Alai Payuthe'.
Although, actor Rahul Bose didn't exactly win accolades for his first film 'Everybody says I am Fine', he is once again inspired to adapt Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid's
novel 'Moth Smoke' for celluloid.
Rahul Bose says, "While we can't be sure whether these actors will direct as well as they act, we sure hope that their behind the
scenes ventures do bring out a few memorable onscreen moments!"
As the audience who will have to sit through the movie once we buy the ticket, we hope so too!
