Motorola India recently set the internet ablaze with the launch of the new Motorola Razr 60, a phone that’s not just stylish - it’s dangerously cool. To showcase just how much attention the phone commands in public spaces, Motorola orchestrated a moment that sparked curiosity among fans and media after celebrities Milind Soman, Rithvik Dhanjani and Aparshakti Khurana were seen being confronted and escorted away in public spaces while flipping open their new Motorola Razr 60 devices, leaving fans and media speculating: what could have possibly caused such a stir?
The activity was staged across high-traffic zones in Mumbai, where the celebrities were spotted using their Moto Razrs in public before being swarmed by decoy officials. As videos of the incident began circulating by popular pages like Viral Bhayani, Voompla and filmydhun, curiosity surged online, with captions like “Can someone explain what’s happening in this video” and "Our favourite celebrities getting booked? What’s going on here?” The suspense finally broke when the celebrities posted their mugshots on Instagram, revealing they had been charged for using a smartphone deemed too attractive for public safety.
As intrigue around the incidents peaked, meme pages, twelebs and bollywood portals like trolls_official, thesarcasticpage, sagarcasm amplified the conversation on Instagram and X, fuelling widespread speculation and online chatter. Together, these elements formed a part of a larger integrated campaign that spotlighted the Motorola Razr 60, available on Flipkart, across digital and OOH channels. The campaign generated over 150 million impressions across social media and trended at #1 on Twitter with the hashtag #StarsInTrouble.
Conceptualized and executed by Only Much Louder, the campaign leaned into the idea that the new Motorola Razr 60 is engineered to arrest attention. With its razor-sharp foldable design, iconic silhouette, and bold new colourways, the smartphone is so visually striking, it naturally becomes the center of attention and can quite literally turn heads.
Reflecting on the creative insight behind the campaign, Pankaj Malani, Sr VP & Revenue Head at OML, said: “We wanted to play with the idea of visual distraction in an overstimulated world - what happens when a phone looks so good, it becomes a public hazard? The campaign tapped into that insight, and the public reaction was bigger than we could’ve imagined.”
In an age where brands fight to be noticed, Motorola flipped the script — showing that sometimes, being too noticed is the story.
