Censor Board Cuts: Kiara Advani’s Bikini Scene Reduced
According to sources close to the production, the CBFC requested a nine-second cut from a bikini sequence featuring Kiara Advani, reportedly from the upbeat ‘Aawan Jaawan’ song alongside Hrithik Roshan.
“The Censor Board asked that sensual scenes featuring Kiara Advani be cut down by 50%. Nine seconds of her bikini shot were removed,” the source revealed.
These edits form part of the certification process to align the film with the U/A 16+ rating guidelines.
Other Modifications: Muted References and Removed Gesture
The CBFC also instructed the muting of six scenes containing “inappropriate references” and the removal of one obscene dialogue line. Additionally, a two-second inappropriate gesture flagged by the board was edited out.
Importantly, the action sequences—which form the core appeal of War 2—were left untouched.
Shorter, Tighter Runtime for Better Pacing
While the CBFC mandated certain changes, the filmmakers voluntarily trimmed the runtime from 179.49 minutes (2 hours 59 minutes) to 171.44 minutes (2 hours 52 minutes) to ensure a tighter narrative flow.
“The makers revised the runtime to enhance pacing without compromising the action and drama,” the source explained.
High Stakes at the Box Office
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is part of YRF’s blockbuster Spy Universe, following hits like War (2019), Pathaan (2023), and Tiger 3 (2023). Advance bookings have already begun, with strong pre-sales expected across national cinema chains.
The Independence Day release window positions War 2 for a massive opening weekend. However, it faces stiff competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which is also set for a mega debut. Trade analysts believe the clash will create one of the biggest box office battles of 2025.
Why War 2 is Generating Buzz Despite Cuts
The film brings together Hrithik Roshan’s elite RAW agent character and Jr NTR’s high-intensity action persona, promising slick combat sequences, exotic locales, and explosive set pieces. Kiara Advani’s role adds glamour and intrigue, while Ayan Mukerji’s direction ensures a high production value spectacle.
Even with the minor censorship cuts, industry insiders expect War 2 to retain its high-energy appeal and deliver one of the most thrilling spy dramas of the year.
