Farhan Akhtar Confirms Film Is Not Shelved
In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Our Stupid Reactions, Farhan Akhtar clarified that while the film has faced repeated delays, it has not been abandoned.
He explained, “I would hate to say that it’s shelved. What I will say is that it has been put on the back burner. It is a film that will happen. Again, I don’t know when it will be. But it’s too delicious a script and there’s so much work that has already been done on it.”
This statement puts an end to rumours that the project was scrapped entirely due to scheduling conflicts.
Cast Changes Likely: Will the Original Trio Return?
While Farhan reassured fans that Jee Le Zaraa is still alive, he hinted that the original dream cast may no longer be locked.
He said, “I have finished all location scouts, recorded music for the film. So it’s just a matter of time that we come back and do it again. I can’t comment on the cast anymore, like what that will be and when that will land. But will the film happen? Ya, it will.”
This strongly suggests that Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif’s participation remains uncertain, raising questions about whether new faces may take over the central roles.
Alia Bhatt on Jee Le Zaraa’s Delays
Back in 2024, during an interview with Lallantop, Alia Bhatt opened up about the challenges of scheduling the film with three busy global stars.
She admitted, “Logistically, kaafi difficult ho raha tha to get all the dates together but I think agar sabke zehan mein hai aur intent mein hain toh woh film ban jayegi (It is difficult to get the dates of the key players together, but everyone has it in their mind that the film has to be made).”
Her statement echoed Farhan’s optimism while also highlighting the complexity of aligning multiple A-list calendars.
From Dil Chahta Hai to Don 3: Farhan’s Busy Slate
Farhan Akhtar had first announced Jee Le Zaraa on the 20th anniversary of his iconic debut directorial Dil Chahta Hai, making it one of the most highly anticipated projects of his career.
However, in 2023, he surprised fans by announcing Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, which temporarily shifted focus away from Jee Le Zaraa.
Currently, Farhan is awaiting the release of 120 Bahadur, directed by Razneesh Ghai. The film is inspired by the heroic true story of the Battle of Rezang La (1962), where 120 Indian soldiers bravely fought against overwhelming odds. Starring Raashii Khanna, Vivian Bhatena, and Eija Khan, the movie hits theatres on November 21.
What Lies Ahead for Jee Le Zaraa?
While fans are still hopeful that the original trio — Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif — will headline the project, Farhan Akhtar’s latest update suggests that the cast lineup might change.
The script, music, and location scouting are already complete, which means the film could move forward once scheduling and casting are finalized. Until then, Jee Le Zaraa remains one of Bollywood’s most eagerly awaited yet uncertain projects.
