In a deeply emotional update, Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have officially confirmed that their upcoming wedding — which was planned for November 23 in Sangli — has been called off.
Amid growing speculation about their relationship status, both Smriti and Palash took to Instagram on Sunday, requesting fans and media to respect their privacy during what they described as an extremely painful and sensitive time for both families.
Smriti expressed her thoughts through a brief but heartfelt note, saying she wishes to move forward without further conversation on the matter.
“I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same,” she wrote, thanking her supporters for their constant love.
Emphasizing her commitment to cricket and the nation, she added: “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all… I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible.”
Palash Muchhal also released a statement, calling this the toughest period of his life. He denounced the harmful rumours circulating online and warned of legal action against those spreading defamatory claims.
“Our words can wound in ways we may never understand,” he shared, urging people to be more responsible with what they say and share on social platforms.
Their wedding had first been postponed last month after both Smriti’s father and Palash were unexpectedly hospitalized, which further fueled speculation — especially after Smriti deleted all wedding-related posts from her social media.
Earlier, singer Palak Muchhal, Palash’s sister, had requested fans to maintain positivity and kindness as both families were under emotional stress.
With this announcement now made directly by Smriti and Palash, they have asked everyone — including fans, media and followers — to give them space to heal and move forward with dignity.
