Diagnosis and Treatment: The TAVI Procedure
According to Joshi’s update, Prem Chopra was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, a condition where the heart's aortic valve narrows, restricting blood flow to the rest of the body.
Rather than undergoing traditional open-heart surgery, the medical team opted for a modern, minimally invasive approach:
The Procedure: TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation).
The Benefit: This advanced method allows for valve replacement without the risks and recovery time associated with open surgery.
The Outcome: The procedure was performed successfully with no complications, ensuring a fast recovery.
Sharman Joshi Expresses Gratitude
Sharman Joshi, known for his roles in 3 Idiots and Rang De Basanti, posted a series of photos on Instagram expressing relief and gratitude on behalf of the family (Joshi is married to Chopra's daughter, Prerana).
He specifically thanked the medical experts leading the treatment: "We will always be thankful for the exceptional support and care he received," Joshi wrote, crediting Dr. Nitin Gokhale (Cardiologist) for his consistent guidance and Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao (Interventional Cardiologist) for successfully performing the TAVI procedure.
Recent Health Concerns
This update comes shortly after Prem Chopra was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai last month. At the time, reports indicated he was suffering from a viral infection and age-related complications.
With the valve replacement successful, Joshi confirmed that the veteran actor is now back home and recovering comfortably.
