From the time he made that feisty tasty feel-cool film about 3 urban dudes called Dil Chahta Hai to his
surrealistic take on the Bachchan blockbuster Don, Farah Akhtar has never ceased to surprise.
The latest development in his life has taken even the forever-versatile Farhan by surprise.
He has agreed to play the lead in his sister Zoya Akhtar 's director debut Luck By Chance. This is the probably
first occasion in the history of world cinema where an established filmmaker would star in his sister's directorial
venture.
Laughs Farhan, "Yes, I'm Zoya's leading man.I don't know how it happened. But it has happened. I'm putting
on hold my next directorial venture Voice From The Sky to star in Zoya's Luck By Chance."
Zoya, struggling to put together her directorial debut for the past two years, has decided to put aside Kismat
Talkies featuring Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor which she had decided to make earlier.
Says Farhan, "For now Kismat Talkies isn't happening. If you remember, Luck By Chance is the film Zoya had
decided to make initially. She's back on that project. We start shooting in March 2008."
Interestingly Luck By Chance is set within the film industry. It would be the third major film from Bollywood ON
Bollywood after Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om (set in the 1970s) and Sudhir Mishra's Khoya Khoya Chand
(1950s).
Luck By Chance will be a more contemporary take on the industry.
Says Farhan, "It's my second starring role. I've also played the lead in Anand Surapur's The Fakir Of
Venice."
Farhan was supposed to play a role in his talented associate Reema Kagti's Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. The
role eventually went to Abhay Deol as Farhan got busy with Don. Rituparno Ghosh was supposed to cast
Farhan as Shabana Azmi's son.
"I don't know what's happened to that project. But for now I'm looking forward to my acting again in my sister's
film," ends Farhan.
