Aamir Khan, India`s representative in International cinema these days, has signed a film in Hollywood. But the secretive Khan has kept the project strictly under wraps.June 15, 2002. Something seems to be brewing in Aamir Khan`s career. And by the whiff of it, a Hollywood project is what is keeping the Khan busy these days. India`s answer to Tom Hanks may very well tighten up the competition in an industry currently ruled by the Cruises and the Crowes.
Aamir Khan has apparently been signed on by a reputed Hollywood production house. Apna Bhuvan of Lagaan fame was bombarded with film offers while he was lobbying for Lagaan in the United States. But knowing Aamir and his eye for perfection, he refused every one of them by calling the roles `uninteresting and insubstantial`. This time around, the right project seems to have come his way. Aamir however, is unavailable for comment.
Though actors like Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Paresh Rawal and Gulshan Grover have paved the way to Hollywood, if things work out, this would be the first time that a mainstream Bollywood hero would cross-over to the American industry. With Aamir and his Oscar-history, this hardly seems surprising!
