Even as the Rang De Basanti director prepares to start his next project the autobiogrpahical Delhi 6 he also has plans for what could possibly be the most ambitious and formidable casting coup of the decade.
For his ambitious project Bhairavi, set in the world of classical Indian music and thematically carrying forward the theme of famlial strife amidst the spirit of competitive creativity, Rakeysh intends to bring the three Bachchans Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek together in their real-life roles of husband, wife and son.
Says Rakeysh, "It's a project that has been with me for a while. I have already narrated it to Amitji and Abhishek. And they're on. Ideally I'd have liked to make it immediately after Aks.
But a combination of forces came in the way. I'm ready to do the film as soon as the dates are worked. One thing is for sure. Bhairavi has to be made with Amitji, Abhishek and Jaya."
But Jaya is known to be extremely finicky about projects. She isn't too sold on the idea of coming together with her husband and son on screen. Will she agree?
"She has to! I'll do bhook hartal in front of her home until she agrees. Bhairavi must be made, preferably this year."
Incidentally Bhairavi is the name of Rakeysh's daughter.
While he waits for his dream project to materialize Rakeysh also has plans for Paanch Kaurav. "It's a mythical opus, on the lines of Raiders Of The Lost Arc and Lord Of The Rings. It's a huge film, with an estimated budget of Rs 70 crores."
UTV who are laughing all the way to the bank after Mehra 's Rang De Basanti, have agreed to produce Paanch Kaurav.
"But right now there's my autobiographical film about my childhood in Delhi's Chandni Chowk entitled Delhi—6.."
