Kangana Ranaut: "I don't know enough about cinema to comment on someone as great as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But I'll say this much. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an exceptional filmmaker. There's no one like him. There can never be another one like him.
Only frustrated people in the film industry are trying to run him down. It's happened with all the legends in the past. Sanjay Bhansali is the God of Indian cinema."
Neil Mathur: "I think it's a beautifully directed film, And by giving us Saawariya Mr Bhansali has given us hope for a quality of cinema which has never been tried before. It reminded me of the Broadway-styled musicals like The Sound Of Music, Dancing In The Rain and Mary Poppins. I loved it."
Alka Yagnik: "Every frame is like a painting. Initially Sanjay Bhansali's films are ruthlessly criticized. But finally they manage to cross the hurdles. I think people were expecting a different kind of cinema from him."
Satish Kaushik: "I liked Saawariya immensely. The rough time given to it is only expected. It's the fate of any artiste who tries something different. Sanjay Bhansali has crafted a masterpiece. He has done something never attempted before.
His film is a fairytale. And the setting design editing and music create a perfect world of makebelieve. Being a student of drama, I adored the unreal stagey quality in Saawariya.
I think what Sanjay has done is amazing. He has given a new form to cinema and also given us two youngsters whe are lovable, endearing and brilliant performers. I know the story has some defects. But so what?
Should Sanjay have allowed Ranbir Raj to get his Sakina at the end just to please mass audiences? I know one thing for sure. In times to come filmmakers will say, 'Let's get that Saawariya type of feeling into our film.'
Alisha Chinai: "Sanjay Bhansali is an iconic director and a modern genius. Naturally everyone is gunning for him. His admirers love to love him and his detractors love to hate him and are looking for any excuse to tear him down.
The media attack is cruel and unjustified. The comments from supporters of the Om Shanti Om project are just tasteless. Sanjay is a seasoned warrior. He will survive.
Saawariya is an incandescent romantic fantasy of the kind that we've all fantasized about. Love in all its hues and madness....Ranbir Kapoor is adorable. A star is born. Sonam is India's Mona Lisa. Mysterious and charming."
Neetu Singh: "I don't know why a section of the media and the film industry are gunning for Saawariya. It's an exquisite piece of art. I've seen it twice and would happily see it again and again even if my son didn't star in it.
The fake hullabloo reminds me of what had happened with my husband Rishi Kapoor's romantic epic Laila-Majnu 30 years ago. In the first week this legendary epic was written off. My husband was so depressed. For two weeks no one came to see the film. But suddenly it became a smash hit.
It has happened to so many legendary films ...Sholay, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hero and Maine Pyar Kiya were all written off on release. I think Saawariya needs space to settle down. Audiences have seen nothing like it before.
Please don't try to condition their minds into hostility towards a film that breaks new grounds. Given a chance I'd have my son launched by Sanjay Bhansali all over again. I can't understand why the film is being written off. Everyone I know has loved it. I've seen it twice and all set to watch it again with my friends tonight."
