"I've been looking at something light for a while now. In fact I'd love to do a David Dhawan comedy. Unfortunately I'm always cast as malfunctional characters.
Even in my role in The Killer I brought in a tinge of humour at the end. When I'm looking for the heroine I sing Zara saamne to aao chaliye. I was actually supposed to sing the Emran hit Jhalak dikhlaja. But we found that to be too gimmicky."
Irrfan who shot his first regional film, in Telugu (co-starring Namrata Shirodhkar's husband Mahesh Babu) will be seen in his first full-fledged comedy.
Says the happy actor, "The film directed by Aditya Bhattacharya is ready for release. It's my first comedy. The audience will never expect to see me in this avatar. It's my first attempt at doing something satirical, and I'm very happy with it."
