Eminent fashion designer Manish Malhotra has revealed that he plans to lock the film script for his first directorial venture in 2008, which will have the look of the cinema of the 1970s.

''I plan to lock the script in 2008 and ask the stars to work in my directorial debut in showbiz,'' Manish told on the sidelines of the launch of Fashion TV's culinary venture 'F Bar and Kitchen' here.

Disclosing about the kind of film he planned to make, Manish said, ''I want to make a film that I would love to see. My intention is not to change the film industry.

My film will have the look of the '70s because that's the kind of cinema I grew up on.''

Asked about his designs on Bollywood stars in current projects, he said, ''I am designing clothes for Kajol in 'You, Me Aur Hum' which Ajay Devgan is directing and Kareena Kapoor for 'Golmaal 2'.

Besides, there's Karan Johar's untitled production starring Priyanka Chopra and Kunal Kohli's film for Yash Raj Productions starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Amisha Patel.''

The favourite fashion designer of many Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar, Manish has also designed clothes for bigwigs Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and even Rajnikant in the recent Tamil blockbuster 'Sivaji: The Boss'.

When asked why does he dress up men for films only, he dismissed it as a mere misconception. ''I do design clothes for men through my label Manish Malhotra but I am so much happier doing it for women. You can do so much more with them. There's make-up, hair.

But I do agree that the ratio of my work for women is more than that for men. It's 70:30.'' Asked about which male superstar among Shah Rukh, Amitabh and Rajnikant gave him the most satisfaction as a designer, Manish replied diplomatically, ''I enjoy every moment of my work.

Eventually, it's about everybody.'' On the staid attitude of men towards fashion as compared to women, he said, ''Men are evolving. They see what's happening around.

And the change is all over. But yes, men do need to dress up in a more experimental manner.'' Manish also revealed that his favourite colour was blue which in turn represented his label.
