Young Bollywood singer Abhijeet Sawant who is busy shooting for 'Lottery' - his debut film as an actor - says the attempt is experimental and music will continue to remain his first priority.

'Music will always remain most important for me. Where I am today is because of music. Since my childhood, I have always dreamt of being a playback singer, acting is just a trial,' Sawant told on phone from Mumbai.

'Actually, I have been getting offers for the last three years. I have been continually reading scripts but nothing excited me till director Hemant Raghu came up with his script. I could relate to it so much that I couldn't say no,' he added.

Commenting on the role he is playing in the film, Sawant said: 'It is a romantic thriller and I am playing an accountant opposite TV actor Manisha Kelkar of TV daily soap 'Bhabhi' fame.'

And how was his first brush with the camera?

'In the beginning I was really scared, conscious and uncomfortable facing the camera. However, the support of people around me worked wonders and now I am just enjoying it.

'Moreover, I am playing no superhero who is jumping from one building to another. There are no stunts and the character is an ordinary guy exactly like you and me in real life.'

Speaking about his source of inspiration, the singer said: 'In the field of acting, singer-turned-actors Kishoreda and Sonu Nigam are my biggest source of inspiration. Both were ordinary human beings before they became icons.'

The budding singer shot to fame as the first 'Indian Idol'. His voice was widely appreciated in the film 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' and the album 'Junoon'.

He is upbeat about his film.

'I know, with this attempt of mine the expectations of my fans must have gone up. I am doing my level best to do justice to it. My fans have appreciated my work so far and I am sure they would continue to do so.'

Sawant's upcoming projects as a singer include 'Care of Footpath' and 'Mumbai.com'
