Bollywood actress-turned-director Revathy says she is not a feminist.

"Though both my films, 'Mitr, My Friend' and 'Phir Milenge' were woman-oriented, they were not deliberate. It was natural instinct. I am a woman and I understand them better. I am not a feminist!" she said.

"'Mitr' was dedicated to my mother, in fact to all the mothers who stay at home and take care of the family. 'Phir Milenge' was against double discrimination - a woman who was HIV positive," Revathy, who was recently in the capital for the CavinKare Ability Awards 2007-08, told.

Asked if heroines were doing much more than just dancing around trees with the advent of films catering to niche audiences, she said: "Earlier also actresses were offered meatier roles apart from being treated as decorative figures.

"In our so called 'commercial' films, heroines look glamorous and come on...who can be more glamorous than a woman. According to the requirement of the story, in good stories they get to do meatier roles as well.

"Audiences prefer a certain kind of content sometimes. It is just a matter of time."

Revathy supports heroes taking care to look good for according to her there is nothing wrong with physicality in men. "Isn't it good? There is physicality among men and it is important. Let's enjoy it."

As an actress, Revathy started her career with the film "Pudumai Penn" and bagged the national award for her intense performance in the Hindi film "Dhoop".

She last appeared in "Nishabd". The film fell flat at the box office but Revathy's role was appreciated. However, the actress said she wasn't looking forward to any particular kind of roles and might take a long sabbatical.

"Actually, I am not acting too much. Audiences would not see me very often and I might do a film or so in alternate years," the actress said.

The versatile artist refused to divulge what she was planning to do during the hiatus. "I have a lot of things to do," the actress said.

The multifaceted celebrity said she would soon start working on her next directorial venture although she hasn't thought about any new subject yet.
