Sharad Kelkar, the very popular Nahar of small screen, is a happy man these days, as he is all set to barge in as an anchor in Zee's upcoming dance show, Rock N Roll Family. We caught up with a very excited Sharad for a talk on his stint as a host.

Q-Is this your first experience as an anchor?
A-Not exactly as I had hosted a 13 episode series of Antakshari for Zee Dubai. I was very bad to begin with, but slowly picked up with time.

This reality show is all together a different experience, as it is on a big scale. As actors, we are usually used to 2/3 cameras, but seeing 13 cameras placed in front of you, can get you nervous.

Q-It was reported that you were never informed that you were hosting this show, while your name was already doing rounds. Why so?
A-Yes, I got a confirmation only this morning. To tell you the fact, they had earlier rejected me, and even now, I have not signed any contract. But luckily for me, all is fine now.

Q-What do you think is the USP of the show?
A-Never before in the history of any event, have 3 generations danced together on television. Plus, what more do you want when Kajol, Ajay Devgan and Tanuja grace the judges' chair..

Q-How has your interaction between with the judges?
A-When I met Tanujaji for the first time during the press conference; I was literally stammering (laughs). She has been in the industry for so long now, even before I was born! Ajay was very cool and we clicked at once, when we got into a conversation back stage.

Q-How do you plan to go about your job now?
A-See, in other reality shows, the anchor has TV prompters giving them their lines. Here, I have been given just one brief, and the rest is on me.

Hence I need to put in more effort and plan to go thro' technical rehearsals before each episode to prevent any bloopers.

Q-Will this reality show too see its share of drama?
A-I do not think that the reality shows actually ask the contestants to pull off stunts out of the blue, they just happen.

Even I cried once, tell me, why I will cry on stage when I know I am not at all benefiting out of it.

The public usually sympathizes with a girl who is in tears, but not a guy! Coming back to this show, it has 3 generations joining together to perform, so we need not make them cry, they will obviously cry even if they win or lose.

Q-So will we be seeing Sharad back at his dancing best?
A-Yes, I will dance for sure! It is going to be difficult though, as I had injured my leg sometime back. I picked up the finer nuances of dancing only after Nach ended for me, while performing in various other events like Ticket to Bollywood on Star Plus.

Q-We heard that you are very much prone to accidents. Tell us about that.
A-It is very weird, when I think that I never get hurt when I dance too much at a stretch, or even take part in 15 grueling fight sequences. But, I just end up injuring myself, at home.

Q-Tell us something about the track in Saath Phere?
A-Well, we are back on track, that's what I can say. The public wants to see more of Saloni and Nahar and the family together, so that is what is going to happen now.

Q-Talk us thro' your recent experience in the reality show, Jjhoom India.
A-I had great fun there, as many people praised me for my singing attribute after Jjhoom happened. But the fact that my wife did not like most of my songs which I sung for her on Valentine's Day stops me from cutting an album (smiles).

Q-Are you open to calls from Films?
A-Yes, why not? I have already started work on building a 6-pack ab. But if you notice, I always like to turn up in suits, rather than cut-offs, like many other TV stars. I do not like to expose, you see!!

Q-You as well as Kirti are busy with work, so how do you find time for each other?
A-I have promised to take her out every month. We have traveled to Kerala, Goa, Dubai, Macau and Mauritius till now.

Q-Having visited many vacation spots; do you plan to anchor a travel show next?
A-I actually hate traveling. Most of the domestic airlines here do not have Business class, and it gets very tough for a tall person like me to remain cramped for hours in those economy class seats.

Q-Again, coming back to the reality show, do you think this format of 3 generations will come out with flying colors?
A-Yes, I do feel so! It is a great opportunity for families to come together. I know the pain of separation, when my mother was away from me for 5 long years. So I think this format should work wonders.

Q-Given that it was a family show, and you are a complete family person, why did the channel not go for you and Kirti as hosts?
The format was of three generations, so considering it, if we had got Kirti to the show, then I had to get my mother too. Above all, we don't even have a kid to complete the 3rd generation, isn't it? (Laughs) Anil Merani
