Glamorous actress Sonia Kapoor is all set to enter Sahara's soap Zaara. Sonia Kapoor shares with us her choosy
nature when it comes to accepting an offer and also accepts that the gap between big and small screen is closing
day by day.
Q. What are you doing nowadays?
A. Well right now I am doing Jersey No 10 and also doing a character in Sahara's show Zaara and this keeps me
busy.
Q. You are the one actress who in spite of doing so many roles is not trapped in one image. How have you
managed to be 'Sonia' but not any character of yours?
A. Well whenever I do any role I make sure that my role is different. There was a time when I played positive roles
but the kind of variation my roles had, I think that kept me away from being trapped in one image.
Q. From negative roles to the lead role, how has your journey so far?
A. It's has been great because I got to do so many various roles. Every role of mine proved to be successful for
me.
Q. According to you, will audience be able to accept you in your new avatar?
A. I wish they do accept my new character in Zaara. I will not be introduced as Zaara but as her friend. People will
come to know later that I am the real Zaara. I am thankful to the Zaara team for the way they are introducing me in
the serial.
Q. Which is your favorite role so far?
A. Undoubtedly Sonia Ray in Remix. It was such a fabulous role that when the serial was about to end I really felt
bad. I wish they could re-start it.
Q. What do you have to say about the flood of daily soaps in television which has no end?
A. I completely agree with you. But in recent times I came across some really good serials which are fun while
watching but at the same time give a social message.
I really love watching 'Jasuben Jayantilal Ki Joint
Family' on NDTV Imagine. I am looking forward if I could get a chance to work in that serial.
May be the
flood is there but there are these kind of serials which stand out in the crowd.
Q. You are termed to be one of the best television actresses, so why haven't we seen you in any of Balaji
serials?
A. It's simple I haven't been approached by Balaji yet (laughs).
Q. Why haven't we seen you in any of the reality shows so far?
A. I would love to participate in reality shows but I don't think production houses have thought about me. I would
love to do any reality show related with dancing or singing. I would love to participate in Nach Baliye but then
unfortunately I don't have a baliye yet.
Q. Tell us one positive and negative aspect of television?
A. Positive aspect is that television is very entertaining and people do have lots of things on their platter now. They
can choose from so many serials. One negative aspect is that television is becoming monotonous.
Q. Today television actors like Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra are moving towards movies and they
are proving themselves there. Don't you think that the gap between television and movies is gradually decreasing?
A. I definitely think so. Because entertainment industry has become one and so there are no boundaries for an
actor. Even people have started accepting television actors on big screen.
Q. You have done many world tours as a performer, where are you heading for your next concert?
A. Right now I am so busy with my serials, so I really can't predict my next tour.
Q. How is your personal life going?
It's going great. It's a notion that people think actors don't get free time. We do get free time and enjoy like
everyone. Right now I am enjoying my work and free time. - Sakshi Tiwari
