Chhal a film about the underworld is produced by Uday Shah and Umesh Bagul, Hansal Mehta has directed the film which is what one could expect out of Hansal Mehta after his Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. In other words, Chhal is quite fast and the situations are very neatly cut. The music is composed by Viju Sha and does ably gel with the tempo and feel of the film.
The album Chhal has several instrumental pieces, and Sha has been able to impart a distinct melodic identity to each of them. Padmini`s theme is a Piano Instrumental; Deceit The Nostalgic Truth is instrumental too. The last in instrumentals is Omerta The Silence.
The title Chhal song performed by KK is somewhere close to what we experienced in Gupt, which became a rage a few years ago. The number is a typical foot-tapper that many are going to adore and listen to for quite a while. There is one more extended version of this in a mix form by KK.
Chup Chaap too has two versions, first one sung by Shaan and the other by Sadhana Sargam. Both are pretty enjoyable, and worth a second listening.Gum Sum sung by Alka Yagnik uses the reggae beat that A R Rahman in Mani Rathnam`s Roja used most remarkably a few years back. She has put good effect in this particular number. It is quite easily recognized by the way Alka Yagnik has sung.
The album is completed with Asha Bhonsle`s Dil Jhanjhanale. It is very true of Asha Bhosle that there are certain songs typically made for her. Well even after the entry of new talents like Sunidhi, Asha Bhosle has her own mark. Well, finally, it is assumed this album might get attracted after the awareness is created by its promos.
