What seemed like a minor argument between Shah Rukh and Zee TV`s camera crew (at Neeta Lulla's prĂȘt launch last night at Crossroads) took an ugly turn this morning when the cameraman and his crew lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh at the Tardeo Police station. Everyone form the cast and crew of Devdas, including Shah Rukh, was happily posing for pictures and doing short interviews with the media. However, Shah Rukh wanted to make a quiet exit after the launch, with a couple of meetings lined up post-dinner. He rushed towards the exit, where Bharat Shah was engaged in an interview (with the Zee TV crew) before a huge poster of the film.
Shah Rukh`s overzealous security possé apparently pushed and shoved everything and everybody who came in his way as he hurried to the exit. This rashness on part of the security guys toppled the Zee cameraman, who fell with his equipment and got bruised. A scuffle ensued and Shah Rukh, instead of calming matters down, reacted to the cameraman`s anger. What followed was a hot exchange of words and things would have almost come to blows had Bharat Shah and a few of the Devdas crew members not intervened. While Shah Rukh may be blamed for blowing a minor scuffle out of proportion, the cameramen and the crew were evidently far from well-behaved as they chased the stars, knocking each other around throughout the event. In fact, three photographers were caught in an ugly fight while a photographer was trampled and two TV crews jostled violently for space.
Shah Rukh has been unavailable for comment as his mobile phone has been switched off and his office refused to comment. A sad turn of events to an occasion that was to be a kind of celebration of SRK`s and Devdas` success.
