On Monday morning while doing an action sequence for Sujoy Ghosh's mega-fantasy Alladin, the Big B suffered another injury --his secomd injury on the same film's shooting—and had to be rushed to hospital for tests.
Says director Sujoy Ghosh, "He was doing a kick for a fight when something gave way in his back. We don't quite know what happened. But Amitji was in unbearable pain. He had to be taken to hospital for MRI tests.
But look at the man's spirit. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he plays a spirit in my film. But he was back on the sets right after the tests. I'm sorry I'm half Amitji's age. But I've half his energy and grit."
At first Mr Bachchan tries to brush off the incident. Then he admits he was in excruciating pain. "Yes I've injured myself doing an action scene for Alladin and I'm.
Yes I had to go to hospital for an MRI test. But I'm not hospitalized. I'm back on the set heavily drugged to assuage the pain so I can complete crucial work," said the Big B on Monday morning.
On Tuesday he had to go back to hospital for tests. But was back shooting for Alladin and to his current favourite pastime-blogging-within no time at all.
About this being the second occasion when he was injured on the sets of Alladin Sujoy says, "Yes earlier he hurt his wrist. That's because Amitji is doing a full-on actioner after ages.
The special effects in Alladin have nothing to do with his action scenes. I wanted him to perform the stunts the same way he did in all those films like Zanjeer and Deewaar that grew up watching. Live and raw.
It was a wish- fulfilment and I didn't want anything to come between me and my dream."
Adds Sujoy, "I do caution Amitji before every action scene. But he just goes for the kill each time. I don't want anything to happen to him for every selfish reasons. I want to make at least twenty more films with him."
