Sony signs 250 crore deal with PNC

Sony Pictures India, which collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for "Saawariya" last year, signed a three-movie deal with Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) here Tuesday.

The details of the deal, however, are not yet available.

One of the three movies is "Raghupati Raghav Rajaram", which is in the final stages of completion.

"This co-productiion deal is a major breakthrough for Indian cinema. It will bring together Indian talent and international studio expertise to optimally exploit global opportunities for Indian movies," said PNC chairman Pritish Nandy, announcing the deal.

Sony has also bought the world distribution rights of PNC's forthcoming comedy movie, "Meerabai Not Out", in which Team India's test captain Anil Kumble plays himself.

Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mandira Bedi and Ejaj Khan also play key roles in the movie, directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni.

For the first time, the animation company, DQ Entertainment, is getting into live action movie production by being co-producer of "Meerabai Not Out".
