Early this month, when White Feather Films' big boss, Sanjay Gupta, announced the movie, he said it was about seven baddies, played by Danny Denzongpa, Fardeen Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Irrfan Khan, Aftab Shivdassani, Dino Morea and Gulshan Grover, who go on a rampage.
But, at that time, he chose to keep everybody guessing as to who would play the leading lady. Knowing that female characters generally play the least part in Gupta's movies, it was speculated that 'Acid Factory,' perhaps, would have no known actress to add spice to the mayhem the seven baddies would indulge in.
So, it was quite revealing when at the media briefing on Geetanjali Lifestyle's association with 'Acid Factory' here Saturday, Gupta unveiled a life-size photograph of a Raquel Welchesque Dia Mirza. 'This is Max, the lone and deadly girl in the movie,' he said.
Later, Dia told the mediapersons: 'I was fed up of playing goody-goody girl-next-door-type roles in all my starrers. So, when Sanjay Gupta offered me a role the like of which I have never played before, I decided to challenge myself.'
But will she be able to pull it through? 'I will give (it) my best shot,' pat came her reply. Although Fardeen Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Aftab Shivdassani and Irrfan Khan spoke about 'Acid Factory', they revealed little about their roles 'because of contractual obligations'.
'Acid Factory', the shooting for which is now in progress at Ramoji Rao Studio in Hyderabad, will be showcased in the forthcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) extravaganza in Bangkok, said Wiz Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft International Ent Pvt Ltd, the organizer of IIFA.
