'My film 'Gulal' is a tribute to the great lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and is based on the song 'Yeh mehlon, yeh takhton, yeh taajon ki duniya' written by him for the film 'Pyaasa',' Kashyap said.
It is a love story set against a certain backdrop, said the director without divulging more details.
'I have been trying to make this film for the last five to six years, but due to one reason or the other it was not possible,' said Kashyap.
The film is 80 percent complete and the last schedule will be for 15 days at Jaipur beginning June 7.
The cast of the film includes Kay Kay Menon, Jesse Randhawa, Deepak Dobriyal, Aditya Shrivastav and Seema Rehmani, besides newcomers like Raja Choudhury, Ayesha Mohan and Abhimanyu Singh.
The film will be released after 'Dev D', which is now in the editing stage, said Kashyap.
'Dev D' is a modern adaptation of 'Devdas' with Abhay Deol in the lead. Kashyap will also be seen as a creative producer of UTV's 'Amir', which releases June 6.
He has also directed a short film for 'Mumbai Cutting', which is an amalgamation of 11 short stories on the city of Mumbai directed by prominent filmmakers like Jahnu Barua, Rituparno Ghosh, Kundan Shah, Sudhir Mishra, Rahul Dholakia, Revathi, Manish Jha, Shashanka Ghosh, Ruchi Narain and Aiyush Raina.
