This highly unorthodox confluence of a Punjabi heir-apparent and the Bengali bohemian is being directed by Ayaan Mukherjee who's a cousin of Kajol.
Ayaan has assisted Ashutosh Gowariker in Swades and Karan Johar in Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna.
Says a source, "It wasn't so much because Ayaan was Karan's pal Kajol's cousin. It had more to do with Ayaan's script than anything else that clinched the deal. The minute Karan read it he fell in love with it."
But aren't Ranbir and Konkona coming together like the synthesis of Venus and Mars?
"That's exactly the point. In this Mumbai-based romance about urban relationships the director needed a pair that seems incompatible. The film is about seeking a level of compatibility in a world gone distinctly out of control."
Apparently when Ranbir and Konkona heard the script they immediately fell in love with the script.
Now all they've to do is fall in love with one another on screen
