Sheeba, the yesterday's bigscreen actress is making her comeback to grab attention from all her diehard fans with a television serial called Sujata.

In the serial she will be playing the character of an independent woman who does not need any man in her life to make her career. Very happily excited with her character, the actress speaks about her role, the show, upcoming films and little more...

Q. You are coming back to your audience after so long with Sujata on Sony. How does it feel like?
A. Frankly, it is a great pleasure to get back into acting with such a good production house. It feels like coming back home.

Q. How is it all going to be?
A. The story of Sujata is about the friends who share friendship since their childhood days and now they are in the autumn of their lives, where one girl is a divorcee and looking after two kids and the other is playing Sujata who is going through her troubled marriage.

My character, Roshni, who enters the serial as the third woman, is very independent kind of women.

Q. Please give us a brief about your character.
A. My character, Roshni, is a very independent and career oriented woman who believes that she can make a successful life without a man in her life. She is a very peppy, lively character who brings fun and life to the show.

Whenever she is in a scene she is always doing something and she is the main protagonist. A very loveable character and is very loyal towards their friends.

Q. Are you excited playing this kind of character?
A. I am very much excited playing this character. It is fun to play a character which is close to my age and I get to play myself, I don't have to go for ageing for my character.

Q. What made you accept the role?
A. There were various reasons, actually. The story which is very different, the banner which is known to give quality family soaps and the channel which is prime time Sony, so the three things that has come together is what attached me to accept the show.

Q. What's the USP of the serial?
A. It's about today's women whom you meet in everyday life, metro women I mean, then there you have a very urban looking woman and last but not the least there is Indianised women; so it is all about women. It covers the whole spectrum of women from every strata of society and that is USP of the serial.

Q. How different will the show be from the other television soaps?
A. It will be different because of its storyline for sure because it is a story about three best friends and their support to each other in every happy and sad moments of life. And at the same time the presentation of the story is also very different.

Q. Don't you think every daily soap has become a clone to each other?
A. I don't think so because every show has its own fan following and every show has its own USP and Sujata is consistently doing well since it has come.

The emotions involved in those shows are common to all so some situations will make us smile and some make us cry, so the basic emotion on television is always the same but never the serials.

Q. What kind of roles do you like to play?
A. I want to play a whole variety of roles, the roles which excites me and roles that gives some spectrum in my character. It should be just a strong protagonist which is very essential for the story.

Q. Any plans to do films or you just want to stick to television?
A. I am in talks with some films and of course if things work out well, I'll do films also.

Q. Future projects of yours...
A. I am in a process of signing some films. I have already started working in a Bhojpui film called International Daroga with Shatrughan Sinha and hopefully will start working in a Hindi film from the next month. Since, I am in a process of signing the film so I think I will be making official announcement later. -Sabir Rahman
